Speech -N-Go Tutoring Services:
Speech-N-Go is a Speech Enhancing Program that is designed to enhance your child's communication skills based on the areas of concern:
Speech Production: Say sounds incorrectly "tup" for "cup" or "wed" for "red"), Runs all sounds/words together when speaking in sentences, making a few sounds, leaves off ending sounds (ex. "cu-" for "cup", reduces syllables within words (ex. "ba" for "balloon"), only producing vowel sounds, pronounce words incorrectly.
Comprehension Skills: Understanding the meaning of words (grade level vocabulary, antonyms, synonyms, multiple meaning words), reading a story and answering questions, reading a story and talking about the details, reading a story and telling the main idea, following simple commands, making inferences and/or predictions, using context clues to define words, drawing conclusions based on the story/event, understanding figurative language (idioms, metaphors, similes, etc.
Letter Sound/Phonic Skills:
has difficulty identifying beginning, middle, ending sounds
blending sounds together to create words (ex. " c-a-t" is "cat")
changing sounds in words to create new words "pan" becomes "fan" when changing "p" to "f")
counting syllables
reading independently
reading at steady rate
spelling words
telling the difference between short vowels and long vowels
Writing/Grammar Skills:
When writing my child:
Can't write a complete sentence
Doesn't put capital letters in the beginning of sentences
Doesn't use appropriate punctuation (placing period at the end of sentence, or question mark after a question)
Doesn't know the parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective)
Can't write a sentence using vocabulary words
Can't write a sentence about a story or event
Doesn't understand subject/verb agreement
